Weight Loss Programs That Work

Updated on November 4, 2014

Not every weight loss system will work for everyone. Some are conflicting with existing health conditions, and others just wont give you results. Below you will find several different programs that cover a wide array of solutions to your weight loss problems. Keep reading and find the one that works for you and you lifestyle and start seeing the results you want to now!

The South Beach Diet

The south beach diet gained momentum in the early 2000s and is said to be "more than a diet" and become a lifelong change in eating habits. A loved feature of this program is that there is no calorie counting involved, just guidelines to follow. It's broken into three phases with the first phase geared towards ridding a desire for sugars and refined starches which most unhealthy diets are filled with. This first phase is designed to jump start your weight loss and transition into phase two; steady weight loss. The final phase is weight loss maintenance and making life long eating changes. If you are looking to kick the diet habit and make lasting changes this may be the weight loss program for you. This plan is also beneficial for those who maybe aren't looking to lose weight but rather just start eating better for life.

The Slim Fast Plan

The Slim Fast Plan is geared towards women and in general younger women and those with limited time and resources. The Slim Fast Plan is affordable, easy to follow and gives the dieter a lot of tasty options. The slim fast plan uses meal replacement bars and shakes to boost metabolism and fit into any lifestyle. The typical plan is the 3-2-1 plan where you choose 3 Slim Fast meal replacement shakes or meal replacement bars, 2 healthy 100 calorie snack or slim fast snack bars and 1 sensible meal each day. The slim fast plan has been helping people around the worlds shed pounds for decades. Unlike the South Beach Diet, the Slim Fast Plan does not offer a lot of options for long term healthy eating habits and is often considered or used as a crash diet.

Weight Watchers

The Weight Watchers plan has long been a favorite women's diet until recent years when popular male celebrities have become well known spokespersons for the ever growing weight loss trend. The Weight Watchers Plan works on a points system and claims to be based on the "latest nutritional science". Plans are customized to each individuals needs and meant to give results that last a lifetime. A great advantage to the Weight Watchers system is that absolutely no foods are excluded! If it can fit within your points allowance, you can eat it! Now, that's not to say all foods will fit within this easy to follow points system but your food choices are far less restricted than other weight loss plans. Weight Watchers has also recently come out with a re-vamped easy to use online tool to track points and exercise. You can even earn more points by incorporating extra fitness allowing you more control of what you're allowed to eat. Weight Watchers prides themselves on their support community too! You can meet others online following your same plan and even attend meetings and weigh ins in your town to keep you motivated and accountable.

Nutrisystem

The Nutrisystem plan is a pre-prepared meal plan that offers a variety of food choices. The program takes all the guesswork out of dieting and gives you the right portions and number of meals or shakes every day. They offer personalized plans for men, women and even a diabetic menu. The price is affordable with special deals advertising packages as low as $10 a day. This option does take a commitment since you are purchasing a months worth of food at a time and would put anyone's grocery budget in the hole if they were to back out after purchase. As a subscriber to Nutrisystem you get to hand pick all of your food choices and there are some grocery essentials you will need to pick up yourself. The system also encourages incorporating fitness into daily life for maximum results.

Calorie Counting and Portion Control

Some people prefer to create their own methods and path to weight loss success and that's great! With Internet, smart phones, Ipads and so much other handy technology it's easy to keep yourself accountable for your weight loss goals. Simply cutting your calories and scheduling regular exercise into your day might just be what works best for you. There are dozens of smart phone apps and websites that offer FREE programs to track the calories you consume through healthy eating and burn through exercise. The Daily Plate is a favorite of many! It gives you access on your phone and computer all for free and is extremely user friendly.
